Here I am with my first literary expedition.
Disclaimer: I am not "sant" or "mahatama" or zen master or the enlightened one or any of the sub set of the same. This blog does not intend to give some teaching or preaching of any kind and I do not intend to show my literary skills (as if I have one). This is what I have been thinking and from long time the writer in me was trying to come out and write few lines of common sense that may help few to see what I see. Since I am too lazy to bring up my own site (eve though I am techie (so as we are called in Bangalore) or may be the ace programmer in my project) I wasn't able to write one. So thanks to blogger.com that I am getting this opportunity. So much for the intro and lets start with the work.
If we could save one plastic bag per person per day we would help to prevent accumulation of 120 million kg of waste on earth per day. I am not sure how much plastic gets recycled everyday.
I recently saw an animation movie called as "Hanuman returns". I really liked the idea expressed in it that how will human race destroy it self. Simply cause more and more pollution. No underworld demon needs to return from hell or some prophecy to come true to destroy us. Pollution is enough for us. So we need not fear about these prophecies and demons of past as shown by holly wood movies. Probably the demons will never return because we are taking away there jobs (outsourcing happens in other worlds as well).
Now I really want to share some things which I follow to prevent use of polythene.
1) I use a jute/cloth bag to buy and bring daily used stuff from shops to our house (not to mention that I got that bag from vaishno devi ..."the prasad bag"). Recently I got one when I bought a saaree for my mom. I remember that my mom used to make "jhola" or cloth bags out of old cloth and reuse them. I think that was a superb idea. Earlier it looked like old fashioned thing and I did not use to like to carry it. But its economical, saves money and removes pollution.
2) I am looking for a "doodh wala" near by home. If some one knows a "doodh wala" in koramangala then please do let me know. I don't want to buy packed milk.
3) Buy fresh vegetables instead of packed one. Save money, save energy, get more nutrients and prevent usage.
more on topics like how simple people like us can save energy, how to reduce food stuff costs and reduce pollution and save planet.
